Group project: Barn-raising quilt

This year, I'm participating in the annual Relay for Life fundraising event in a bit of a different way: I'd like to ask my knitting friends to help me make a blanket, one that requires a basic knowledge of knitting (with increases) and a small amount of soft, quality sock yarn. Together, we can sew up our separate squares and produce a lovely 'patchwork' that can be displayed here in town and raffled off to benefit the Canadian Cancer Society. All of us have been touched by cancer: with friends or family currently in treatment, have lost loved ones young and old... sewing together a group blanket like this, you really gather up all of those people with your stitches and wrap them in comfort and warmth.

Cette année, je participe au Relais pour la Vie d'une façon un peu différente: j'aimerais demander à mes amis qui savent tricoter, de fabriquer ensemble une couverture en laine. Le patron ne demande que la base du tricot (point à l'endroit, augmentations dans les coins) et une petite quantité de laine à chaussettes belle et douce... Ensemble, nous pouvons assembles nos carrées en un 'patchwork' qui peut être mis en vitrine et tiré, au profit de la Société Canadienne du Cancer. Le cancer nous a touché tous:: nous avons tous des amis ou de la famille qui ont survécu, ou qui sont présentement en traitement... et nous avons perdu des êtres chers, trop jeunes, et moins jeunes... Quand on participe à un tel projet, nos pensées vont dans chaque maille, pour entourer nos proches d'un confort et une chaleur précieux.
