Socktober is coming!!!

Inspirée par ce billet de la légendaire Lauren, et par les températures plus frisquets la nuit dans nos campagnes, je continue avec la fabrication des chaussettes colorées et confos... des chaussettes rigolotes et des chaussettes élégantes... il y a tellement de possibilités que je capote un tout petit peu!

Je ne sais pas où en est l'évènement Socktober sur Ravelry et ailleurs, mais le mois d'octobre se prête si bien à... des chaussettes! (N'est-ce pas?)

Alors... sans plus de cérémonie... dites-moi tout! Vos réponses dans les commentaires!

Tricot en automne, au Mont Sutton!

Ah, fall:: the crisp air brings new projects to mind, and makes me want to knit something for everyone!

J'ai vu qu'il y aura du tricot au festival d'automne! Samedi prochain, dès 13 heures:: espèrons que les pompoms seront ex-plo-sifs!

(Oh, the things that you forget about life in the city!)

 Here in Sutton, I have been carrying around my workbasket (with DPNs sticking out in all directions like a crazy tame porcupine!) since last year - since the Cho7 - tournoi fundraiser I did for Elliot's hockey. Knitting at the arena. Knitting at the baseball field. Knitting on Principale for WorldWide Knit in Public Day. Crazy, weird, always-knitting-in-public mama. 

If ever I forgot my workbasket in town, in the library or on a bench, I am confident that somebody in Sutton would recognize it & bring it up to the house to drop it off. "Oh, Kelli must have left this here while she was renewing her books/watching Elliot in the sk8park/buying some more tea," they would say. "I'm sure she's missing it terribly. I'll just pop on up the road and leave it on her steps."

This weekend, I spent an evening and a night in Montreal, and woke up early on Sunday to go for a run before taking the bus back home. I settled for breakfast and coffee in a chain resto. (not much in the way of choices in the Berri-Emile-Gamelin-BANQ area, unfortunately...) and while I was getting a refill of my (terrible and v. probably not organic or fair-trade or shade-grown) coffee, A FELLOW MADE OFF WITH MY WORKBASKET!!!! A SHIFTY CHARACTER IF THERE EVER WAS ONE!!!!

I of course abandoned my place in line and started running after the knitting thief

Who seemed a little bit simple

And answered my cries of "Mon tricoooooottttt...." with a sheepish look - he set the basket down on the sidewalk and walked away.

Brome Fair is over! ... and I won my first First prize since we've been going to the fair!!

projet de tricot graffiti au Festiv'art de Frelighsburg !!!

L'installation finale de notre oeuvre a été faite jeudi dernier à Frelighsburg juste à temps pour la conférence de presse qui lançait l'édition 2012 du Festiv'art!
The final installation of our piece of art was done last Thursday Frelighsburg just in time for the press conference which launched the 2012 edition of Festiv'art!

Si vous passez par Frelighsburg dans les prochaines semaines, profitez en pour vous arrêter devant la société d'histoire pour admirer notre travail!
If you go through Frelighsburg in the coming weeks, take the opportunity to stop in front of the historical society to see our work!

préparatifs & séance d'essayage

We worked and worked and worked for the last weeks on that graffiti knitting for de Festiv'art which is turning to be a magnificient  piece of art! We will publish our official statement about it soon...

But now it was time to finish sewing everything together, and then go to Frelighsburg to see is the shoe fits... and figure out how to put everything on the building, the pole and the tree.

Here's some "making-of" pictures. The official setting up will take place next week.

Knit in public for the Festiv'Art: August 5th

Zoé and I send all of our very best to the Sutton Knitte(r)s who came out last Sunday! Encore une fois, Cyrille a été assez impressionné par le nombre de personnes qui s'interessent à ces évènements-là. Il a dit, "Il y avait au moins 10 personnes qui tricotaient en ville!" Oui, oui, je ne suis pas la *seule* personne qui aime le tricot à Sutton.... la preuve! Il y avait même des amis de Montréal!!! L'avant-goût que j'ai eu des installations m'a réchauffé le coeur! Bravo à toutes celles qui y ont participé!!!

Si jamais vous vous baladez sur la Principale à Sutton, et quelqu'un vous lance un pompom -- dites-vous que c'est un signe d'amour.

Entre le labohem et le tricot-graffiti géant, Frelighsburg va être pas mal hot cet automne!
